Voted Melody Maker's Top Musician of the Year in 1972, auditioned for The Rolling Stones following the departure of Mick Taylor. Gallagher made his final performance on 10 January 1995 in the Netherlands

Bad Decision!

11/06/1960, Drummer Tommy Moore made the fateful decision to quit The Beatles and return to his job of driving a forklift at Garston bottle works. He was briefly replaced by Norman Chapman, who was called into National Service after just three gigs. After going drummerless and mostly jobless for a few weeks, the band hired Pete Best on August 12th, only one day before they were to go to Hamburg to play a string of club dates

Don't let me down
Don't let me down, don't let me let down
Can you dig it? Don't let me down...

Talking RadioHeads

And true love waits
In haunted attics

Don' t look back in anger...

9/06/1998, Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall were involved in a brawl at The Metropolitan Hotel, London

There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode Who never ever learned to read or write so well But he could play the guitar just like a ringing a bell
Go go
Go Johnny go

Yeah, you really got me now
You got me so I don't know what I'm doin', now...

Supreme Cheek

7/06/1987, Kim Wilde went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'You Keep Me Hanging On', a No.2 hit in the UK. The song had been a 1966 hit for The Supremes

'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on

Something in the way she moves...

Out of the blue

5/06/1975, During recording sessions for Wish You Were Here at Abbey Road Studios, London, England, Syd Barrett turned up out of the blue as Pink Floyd were listening to playbacks of Shine On You Crazy Diamond — a song that happened to be about Barrett. By that time, the 29-year-old Barrett had shaved off all of his hair (including his eyebrows), become overweight, and his ex-bandmates did not at first recognise him. Barrett eventually left without saying goodbye, and none of the band members ever saw him again...

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught in the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exp…

The Boss!

4/06/1984, Bruce Springsteen released the album, 'Born In The USA', which became the best-selling album of 1985 in the United States (and also Springsteen's most successful album ever). The album produced a record-tying string of seven Top 10 singles (tied with Michael Jackson's Thriller and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814)

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark

Girl, we couldn't get much higher!

3/06/1967, The Doors 'Light My Fire' was released in the US, where it went on to be No.1 on the singles chart two months later. When The Doors were booked to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show they were asked to change the line "girl, we couldn't get much higher", as the sponsors were uncomfortable with the possible reference to drug-taking. The band agreed to do so, and did a rehearsal using the amended lyrics; however, during the live performance, lead singer Jim Morrison sang the original lyric, after which they were informed they would never appear on the Ed Sullivan show again

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Bad Debut

2/06/1967, David Bowie released his debut album, 'David Bowie', which failed to make the UK charts

Surrender to the King

1/06/1961, Elvis Presley was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Surrender', his eighth UK No.1. The song was based on the 1911 Italian song, 'Return To Sorrento

So, my darling, please surrender
All your love so warm and tender
